Fashioning employment for differently abled people

Arvind has a history of successful social responsibilities campaigns and is known for the implementation of its flagship programme, which provides education to the under privileged. We firmly believe in our philosophy and often draw inspiration from it. One such example is programme dedicated to providing employment to differently abled people. Shruti who hails from the rural district of Mysore, lost her eyesight at age of 6. Her father, Nagaraj G is a farmer, and Mother Mangalamma is a home maker. Despite her disability and the odds that she faced Shruti completed her education at J.S.B and then Pre-University education with a distinction.

Today, Shruthi has been working with us for over four and half years at Mysore Road factory in Bangalore. She commutes to Arvind unit by train from her native village, on her own. Her determination to live on her own is invigorating. Working at Arvind has not only made her independent, but also enabled her to support other members of her family. The encouragement and support from co-workers and a conducive work environment keeps her going at Arvind. At work, she loves sharing her lunch with colleagues and loves being a part of a larger team which empowers her and makes her feel proud of herself. Her long stay is commendable in the backdrop of high employee turnover industry. We pride in having many such examples in our garment manufacturing business.
